The current roster features **[Zetaman](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/zetaman/)**, **[Totally Naked Man](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/totally-naked-man/)**, **[Extremely Conservative Woman](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/extremely-conservative-woman/)**, and [**Antiman**.](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/antiman/) ## Creation and Concept The Alternates is based on a team of **[real-life superheroes](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/real-life-superheroes/)** lead by Zetaman, A.K.A. **Illya King**. The Alternates were featured in the YouTube series, **[The Real Adventures of Zetaman](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5918238/) [\[1\]](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5918238/)**. The Alternates began as a message board collective in 2006. In February of 2008, The Alternates started a BlogTalk Radio Show, led by then-husband-and-wife team Zetaman and **[Apocalypse Meow](https://rose-city.net/archives/archives/registry/#apocalypse_meow)**, to help develop a subculture as well as entertain. In August of 200, the message board shut down and the team disbanded.**[\[2\]](https://totallynakedman.com/rose-city-live/editorial/no-more-superheroes/)** **[The Black Knight](https://rose-city.net/archives/police/the-black-knave/)** a.k.a. Josh Stone sent intimidating and harassing messages to an **[RLSV](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/real-life-superheroes/#rlsv)** from Ohio. Mr. Stone had a history with ill treatment of women online. The rumors of past behavior combine with the recent actions led to Mr. King disbanding the team publicly on BlogTalk Radio. In November 2009, the Alternates Message Board was rebuilt and open to the RLSH community. In January 2010 Mr. King decided to partner with **[Superheroes Anonymous](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/real-life-superheroes/#sa)**, a nationwide organization of Real-Life Superheroes. The Alternates hosted Superheroes Anonymous 4 in September 2010 (to coincide with Race for the Cure). After which Mr. King and his wife divorced. Zetaman retired May 17, 2011, when members of RLSH and RLSV published a slanderous blog about Mr. King's personal life. The blog also contained personal information about his family, friends, and relationships. Rather than confront these allegations, Mr. King chose to end his association with the RLSH community. ![The original Alternates Logo](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/logo_alts01-300x273.webp) The original Alternates Logo ## Publication History ## Comics and Comic Books **[Zetaman](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/zetaman/)**discusses with **[Totally Naked Man](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/totally-naked-man/)** his theory on why there are villains in **[Rose City](https://rose-city.net/archives/cities/rose-city/)**in **[Naked Man Comics #5](https://nakedmancomics.com/category/ics/naked-and-the-city/zetamans-story/)**. Years ago, Zetaman had a team called **The Alternates**. After disbanding and reforming then disbanding again, villains and heroes turned villains invaded Rose City. Totally Naked Man assures Zetaman that people make their own choices. The team reformed in **[Naked Man Comics #11](https://nakedmancomics.com/category/ics/the-expanded-universe/hunger-thy-name-is-doom/)**. Totally Naked Man and Antiman created a new team because Antiman kept finding social rejects to be sidekicks. In **[Zetaman #1](https://zetaman.mythosimprint.com/category/ics/the-multiverse/)**, The first team of Alternates, featuring The Black Knight, **[Dreamer](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/costumed-individuals-registry/#dreamer)**, and **[Agent Null](https://rose-city.net/archives/police/agent-null/)**, stopped and invasion from the **[Z'Nu Armada](https://rose-city.net/archives/community-safety/the-queen-of-the-znus/)**. **[Zetaman #0](https://zetaman.mythosimprint.com/category/ics/when-zeta-met-null/)** revealed that [**Vega Bond**](https://rose-city.net/archives/archives/vega-bond/)hired Agent Null to get rid of Zetaman. When Zetaman offered cash for Agent Null to switch sides, Null did. The Alternates were formed after that meeting. In the [**Ballad of Parachute Gir**l](https://totallynakedman.com/category/ics/the-ballad-of-parachute-girl/), **[Parachute Man](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/parachute-man/)** needs help from **The Alternates**. **[Parachute Girl](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/parachute-girl/)** does not want to wear the emergency chute Parachute Man gave her. **[Totally Naked Man](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/totally-naked-man/)** and **[Zetaman](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/zetaman/)** go to **[Doctor Atomick](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/doctor-atomick/)** to build a new parachute for Parachute Girl. Totally Naked Man tests it out and it works. Parachute Man and Girl live happily ever after. ## Fictional Overview ### Headquarters The Alternates headquarters is in downtown Rose City on NW 3rd and Glisan at a MAX junction. ## Members [![Zetaman Thumbnail](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/wiki-zetaman-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/zetaman/) **Zetaman** [![Totally Naked Man Thumbnail](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/wiki-totallynakedman01a-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/totally-naked-man/) **Totally Naked Man** [![](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-extremelyconservativewoman-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/extremely-conservative-woman/) **Extremely Conservative Woman** [![](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-antiman-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/heroes/antiman/) **Antiman** ### Former Members [![Agent Null](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-agent-null-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/police/agent-null/) **Agent Null** ![The Black Knave Icon](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-the-black-knave-jpg.webp) **The Black Knight/Knave** [![Dreamer Icon](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-dreamer-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/costumed-individuals-registry/#dreamer) **Dreamer** [![Apocalypse Meow](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/Msmeow01-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/archives/registry/#apocalypse_meow) Apocalypse Meow ### Alternate Members [![Overnight Owl Icon](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-overnight-owl-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/affiliations/real-life-superheroes/#overnightowl) **Knight Owl - Earth Gamma** [![Icarus Icon](https://rose-city.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/sites/29/2023/04/characters-icarus-jpg.webp)](https://rose-city.net/archives/police/icarus/) **Icarus - Earth Gamma** ## References Luebke, Allan. “The Real Adventures of Zetaman (TV Series 2009–2010).” IMDb, IMDb.com, **[www.imdb.com/title/tt5918238](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5918238/)**
