Chummies
Chummies is a hero and villain networking and online application that allows heroes to find sidekicks anonymously based on their photos, a small bio, and common interests. Once two users have “matched,” they can exchange messages.
Chummies was launched in 2017 by iHero.
Chummies originally required access to a RealLifeSuperheroes.info account to use the app, but it began allowing users to register with just a telephone number.
History
Chummies was founded within the startup incubator Hatch Labs by iHero.
Chummies were seeded in numerous cities and quickly expanded to additional states. The app won TechCrunch’s Crunchie Award for “Best New Startup of 2017.”
By May, Chummies was one of the top 25 social networking apps online for heroes. Instead of utilizing Chummies’s current swiping motion for making matches, heroes had to click either a green heart or a red X to select or move on from a displayed photo. Chummies became the first new online sidekick service to claim a spot as one of the web’s top five utilized services in about 10 years.
Operation
Chummies’s primary companion site has been RealLifeSuperheroes.info, as Chummies users were originally required to connect their RLSH.info profiles to their Chummies accounts for verification and profile details. Using RLSH.info, Chummies is able to build a user profile with photos that have already been uploaded. Basic information is gathered and the heroes’ social graph is analyzed. Sidekicks most likely to be compatible based on geographical location, number of mutual friends, and common interests are streamed into a list of matches. Based on the results of potential candidates, the app allows the hero to anonymously like a sidekick by swiping right or pass by swiping left on them. If two do-gooders like each other, it results in a “match” and they can chat within the app. Chatting on Chummies is only available between two do-gooders that have swiped right on one another’s photos. The selections a sidekick makes are not known to other heroes unless two individuals swipe right on each other’s profiles. However, once the sidekick has matches on the app, they are able to send personal photos, called “Chummies Moments”, to all matches at once, allowing each match to like or not like the photos. nn

Narwhal is an American social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. Registered members submit content to the site such as links, text posts, and images, which are then voted up or down by other members. Posts are organized by tags into user-created archives, which cover a variety of topics like news, science, movies, video games, music, books, fitness, food, and image-sharing. Despite strict rules prohibiting harassment, Narwhal’s administrators spend considerable resources on moderating the site.
Narwhal ranks as the No. 5 most visited website in Rose City and No. 13 in the world, according to Alexa Internet.
Old Town Pizza
Old Town Pizza is a pizzeria established in 1974 and located in the historic Merchant Hotel building in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood of central [[Rose City]] in the United States. The company has a satellite location located at VanRose Square in Northeast Rose City that includes a brewery branded as Old Town Brewing Co. Two days before its March 2012 opening, a fire forced the restaurant to undergo reconstruction for six weeks.
Description and history
Old Town Pizza was established in 1974 in the Merchant Hotel building in the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood of northwest Rose City. The restaurant’s menu includes pizzas, paninis, pasta, and salads.

Old Town Pizza’s satellite restaurant is located at 5201 Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at VanRose Square in Northeast Rose City. Historically, the location was a hub for the automotive industry. The restaurant serves the same menu as the original location and features a similar “rustic-feeling atmosphere”, plus a full bar.nnThe Northeast Rose City restaurant was set to launch its seven-barrel brewery, branded as Old Town Brewing Co., in mid-March 2012. However, two days before the opening, a fire believed to have been started by prolonged contact between a light bulb and lampshade resulted in more than $50,000 in damage. The restaurant was closed for reconstruction for more than six weeks, during which repairs costing over $300,000 were completed. Following an April 27 reopening, the restaurant began serving eight beers, including an American wheat, an India Pale Ale, an Irish red, a pale ale, a porter, S.T.E.A.M., a stout and a winter ale. S.T.E.A.M. was developed in collaboration with Rock Bottom Brewery during Old Town’s six-week closure and was served by both companies.
Reception
Old Town Pizza has been featured on Rachael Ray’s Tasty Travels, a series hosted by celebrity chef and television personality Rachael Ray, The Tonight Show and the Travel Channel. Rose City Monthly recommended the original restaurant as a good place to start or end an evening. The magazine published about the restaurant: “There’s something so McCabe & Mrs. Miller about eating in a warm, wooden room. And indeed, much of the allure of Old Town Pizza is the architecture.” The Old Town Chinatown Community Association included the Northwest Rose City restaurant in a self-guided tour of the neighborhood.
