Holly Wood is a wealth-obsessed self-proclaimed diva that is abducted by aliens by accident. Holly is brought into the conflict between The S’p’r Empire and their enemies, The Z’nu Armada.

Creation and concept

Holly Wood was drafted as a one-line joke for a story in Naked Man Comics #3 by Stephanie Greenwood. However, Illya King developed the character to be the main protagonist in the spin-off title, “Holly Wood: Space Diva.

Influences

The aliens in Holly Wood is inspired by the cartoon series, Futurama. The Sq’id aliens, in particular, are based on the character, Zoidberg. The Z’nu aliens were inspired by the Scientology religious figure, Xenu. In Space Diva, General T’rg makes reference to L. Ron Hubbard] being kidnapped and spawning the religion when returned to Earth.

Comics and Comic Books

Holly Wood debuted in Naked Man Comics #3. The underground criminal boss, Vega Bond, kidnaps Holly Wood in a plan to trap Totally Naked Man. The plan backfires when a mysterious beam transports Holly to another planet.

Holly Wood: Space Diva tells the story of Holly Wood being transported to another world. While kidnapped by Vega Bond, Holly Wood is transported to another world. On a space station orbiting the planet Sq’id, Professor F’rd has been searching for H’ro. H’ro was the greatest solider in the S’p’r Empire. In a battle, H’ro’s body and spirit were separated. The spirit downloaded itself into the body of Dale Pople. In one of F’rd’s attempts to find H’ro, the professor accidently teleports Holly Wood. There is little time to transport her back because the Z’nu Armada is attacking the space station that Wood and The Professor are on. Wood fights the aliens with little effort. General T’rg arrives to help repel the Z’nu army. T’rg discovers that F’rd has kidnapped another human. The last human that was kidnapped was Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard. Although Hubbard was returned by to Earth, he created a religion based on what he saw in space. T’rg does not want that kind of contamination again. But during the debate, the Z’nu return to fight so T’rg and Wood develop a plan to stop them. While the general deals with the Z’nu army, Holly Wood must plant a bomb to destroy the Z’nu ship. Wood runs into the Queen of the Z’nus. They fight which causes Wood to drop the bomb. The Queen escapes while Wood is jettison into space. At the last minute, Professor F’rd saves her. F’rd is ready to return Holly Wood. Wood learns that precious jewels are abundant in space and decides to stay to build her personal fortune. Meanwhile, the queen vows revenge against her and humans.

Character Overview

Holly Wood as purposely named Holly by her parents. She was a staff member at the Rose City Museum of Art who attempted to romance Totally Naked Man for his vast wealth.

Personality

Holly is a self-proclaimed diva who has no time for nonsense. She is not bothered by the predicament of being lost in space. Only annoyed.

Powers, abilities, and weaknesses

Holly is not a superhuman. She is extremely proficient in Zumba, the Latin American dance and fitness aerobic exercise. In the Naked-Verse, humans are extremely adaptable in space. Her skeletal structure and physical fitness are much more durable than the soft shelled S’p’r aliens and the soft tissued Z’nu aliens.

Supporting characters

Holly Wood has aligned herself with Professor F’rd, mainly to duping him into proving rare stones and a way to return to Earth. General T’rg reluctantly allows Holly Wood to stay due to her combat abilities. The Queen of the Z’nus is Holly Wood’s main antagonist. Holly destroyed her battleship.
